Ricoh cuts energy consumption by 39% thanks to Vickers EMS

23-01-2015 | Sprinx has managed to achieve 39% gas savings at Ricoh Europe SCM B.V.'s warehouse in Bergen op Zoom using the Vickers Energy Management System (EMS) over the course of the past year. The warehouse is where Ricoh's electronic office equipment is assembled before it is shipped to Europe, the Middle-East and Africa (EMEA).

Vickers EMS has cut Ricoh's gas consumption by 53% (83,657 m³) when compared to the company's consumption before the installation. Sprinx adjusts energy consumption using degree days. This creates an accurate picture of the savings achieved through the use of Vickers EMS. This percentage has been adjusted to 39% (47,606 m³) due to the warm winter of 2013. The predicted savings of at least 25% were guaranteed before Vickers EMS was installed and have certainly been exceeded. The cost recovery period has also been reduced from one year to less than seven months.

These impressive figures were recently presented to Ricoh and their reaction was extremely positive: “Vickers EMS has definitely contributed to achieving our environmental goal of reducing CO2 emissions. Plus, the installation has achieved larger savings than predicted. We have managed to recoup our costs within one season!” explains Pieter-Jelle van Dijk, Director Operations.
