Record amount collected at Minibedrijventoernooi

21-05-2011 | With the help of many volunteers and contributions from a record number of participants and sponsors this year, we can look back on a very successful Minibedrijventoernooi (small business tournament). We managed to collect a record amount for Metakids!

The eleventh consecutive tournament took place on 21 May 2011. Initiators Frank Bosch and Koos de Lange turn the tournament into a great success year after year with the assistance of many volunteers. On tournament day, the participants compete for the much coveted first prize in a sportsmanlike way; and there are plenty of activities for the little ones. It’s always a surprise what the first prize will be. Of course, attention is also focused on the inner person: just as every year, the tournament ended with a barbecue. The proceeds of the tournament are donated to a good cause: this year to Metakids again, for the fifth time.

Metakids received the cheque for EUR 11,580 with many thanks and much joy. They were absolutely thrilled with this, since this amount can be used to start another study. More than 800 children are born with a metabolic disorder in the Netherlands each year. More than 2 a day! Two out of three children die from the consequences of this before they have the chance to become adults. Which is why Metakids seeks funding to enable more scientific research and to bring metabolic disorders to the attention of a broader public.

Obviously, we are well disposed towards such good causes. After a number of donations that came in after the tournament, we eventually were able to donate a grand total of EUR 12,114 to Metakids!
