Le Royal Méridien Hamburg recovers the Cheetah system in 11 months

25-08-2015 | Thanks to our Cheetah Energy Control, hotel Le Méridien Hamburg is able to save a substantial amount of energy on its kitchen ventilation. Nearly six months after installing the system, it became clear that Cheetah can achieve total annual savings of 178.000 kWh. This represents 57% electricity and 23% heated air. The system will be recovered in about 11 months.

In the kitchen of this luxurious 5-star hotel situated at the Alster lake in Hamburg, the extract fans usually ran the entire day. However, it turned out that full capacity of the fans was only required during a much shorter period of the day. A technical survey by Sprinx showed that installing Cheetah would result in an average energy saving of 43%.

Because the hotel management wanted the payback time to be guaranteed, Sprinx placed electricity meters in the hotel in December 2014. Over a period of two weeks, Sprinx measured and compared the electricity consumption before and after the installation of Cheetah. As the results after installation corresponded with the ones calculated, the hotel management was convinced of the performance of the system.

With the installation of Cheetah, the hotel contributes to the environmental policy of mother company Starwood. The policy focuses on energy-efficiency and CO2-reduction and has the goal to reduce the total energy consumption by 30% in 2020 (baseline 2008).

Le Méridien Hamburg is the 6th Starwood hotel in Germany where Cheetah has been installed.
