Gas usage Beekman Transport reduced by two-thirds in just one year

28-01-2016 | Thanks to the Vickers Energy Management System (EMS), Beekman Transport Logistics & Warehousing in Apeldoorn (The Netherlands) has managed to save nearly 40.000 m3 gas over a period of one year – a reduction of no less than 66%! The payback time came down to 9 months.

The management of Beekman Transport was interested in the savings potential of the Vickers EMS, mainly because of the attainable (financial) quick-wins. The system’s performance has exceeded expectations: “We are very happy that we have been able to cut our energy bills thanks to this system. Add to that the short payback time and it is obvious that we are talking about a highly efficient product,” says Martin Beekman, CEO of Beekman Transport.

The warehouse is 5,000 square meters large and uses eight heaters, spread among several rooms. All of these needed to be connected to the Vickers EMS. The system was installed in August 2014 and started saving from September onwards. After just one quarter, gas consumption was already reduced by 15,700 m3, to the satisfaction of Beekman Transport. Evidently, this positive trend has continued through the rest of the year, given the substantial savings that have been achieved. All in all, the expectations have been more than fulfilled!

Beekman has more sites in the area of the current warehouse, but these buildings are rented from other companies. Sprinx is currently exploring the opportunities for the Vickers EMS within the rest of these properties.
