Average energy savings of 50% with the Vickers EMS
24-09-2015 | With the Vickers Energy Management System (EMS), Sprinx has achieved substantial energy savings at the distribution centre of a prominent global logistics provider.
The depot, with a total size of 88,000 m2, uses 33 gas-fired heaters. By using an intelligent control system, the generated heat is now put to optimum use, thus reducing the gas consumption considerably. Since the installation of the Vickers EMS in September last year, an average of 50% has been saved. This equals 88,000 m3 gas (after a degree days correction). The payback time amounts to 1.2 years on average.
According to the client, the excellent results provide enough reason for rolling out the Vickers EMS within the organisation.
The logistics provider primarily concentrates on the technology sector. Technical parts are shipped to this location from a variety of countries where they are unpacked, inspected and reassembled for further distribution.
